Ayane Matsuura was born in Tokushima, Japan. She started taking piano lessons at the age of five. From 2007 she studied in the class of Prof. Yuko Sekine and Mr. Katsunori Ishii at the Tokyo College of Music, where she graduated with Bachelor’s degree in 2011. In 2009 she won a scholarship to study as an exchange student at the International Summer Academy Mozarteum with Prof. Jura Margulis. After graduated from Tokyo College of Music, she continued her study in the Sibelius Academy (Finland) with Prof. Erik T. Tawaststjerna. In 2017 she got master's degree from the Sibelius Academy. She won scholarship by Martin Wegelius foundation in 2017.

 In 2004 she was one of the finalists in the competition of Piano Teacher’s National Association, and in 2006 she received 4th prize in a higher category at the same competition. In 2012 she got stipend at the Suolahti International Music Festival, where she played a special recital in June 2013. The recital got a very good review in the local newspaper. Recently she got the following prizes: finalist diploma at the 2013 Jāzeps Vītols International Piano Competition in Riga, where she also got the special prize for the best performance of the compulsory piece, "Frozen Horizon" by Ē. Ešenvalds, 3rd prize at the 2014 Stasys Vainiūnas International Piano Competition in Vilnius, 3rd prize at the 2014 Nordic Piano Competition in Malmö, Sweden, one of the top prizes at the 2015 Helmi Vesa Competition in Helsinki, finalist diploma at the 2017 Tampere piano competition.

 She was chosen for an international project called Crossing Keyboards in which musicians of their representative academies from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Finland collaborate in concerts and masterclasses in the countries in autumn 2016. She has performed with Tokushima wind orchestra, Latvian national symphony orchestra, Lithuanian national chamber orchestra, Academy winds, Tampere Filharmonia.

She has participated in master classes with Peter Efler, Henri Barda, Remo Remoli, Mikhail Voskresenski, Noriko Ogawa, Anne Queffélec, Juris Kalnciems, Ivari Ilja, Akiko Ebi, Denis Pascal, Olli Mustonen, Roland Krüger, Michael Lipp, Alicja Fiderkiewicz, Robert Levin, Miguel Ituarte, Hyung-Ki Joo and Paavali Jumppanen.

She is currently working at the Sibelius Academy as a chamber pianist (accompanist). She is also teaching piano for young musicians both in Finland and Japan.

 Since 2010 Matsuura has played yearly recitals and school concerts in her hometown of Tokushima, Japan.
